Rev. Mary R. Brownlow

Pastor Mary R. Brownlow was ordained in this church in May 1998 and served as the Associate Pastor until January 2010.


Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, she received her BA from Harvard University in history in 1974. She received her first graduate degree in Theater Arts and worked as a costume designer in New York City before becoming a full time mother.


After taking courses in theology at Bangor Seminary's Hanover campus, she enrolled at Andover Newton Theological School, receiving a Master of Divinity degree in 1997. Chaplaincy is also part of her ministerial career: she has worked as an assistant chaplain at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and for 10 years was chaplain of the local Hospice organization.


Mary was a founding member of Building Bridges: Middle East - US  and visited Iran as part of peacemaking delegations in 2003 and 2005. In 2008, she began to pursue studies in interfaith dialogue, enrolling in courses at Hartford Seminary. In 2012, she received a Graduate Certificate in Islamic Studies and Christian - Muslim Relations.


She has three children: Johannes, Will, and Elizabeth.
