At Norwich Congregational Church, music is a joyful and integral part of our worship and church life.
Our hymns for worship are selected primarily from the Pilgrim and New Century hymnals, with occasional selections from other sources. Under the direction of our music staff, members of the congregation share their musical gifts, adding guitar, violin, harmonica, clarinet, flute, and other beautiful sounds to our worship together. In some of the summer weeks, we host Young Artists from Opera North as soloists. Though our service is “traditional,” we hear an eclectic range of sacred choral music.
We have recently completed a Summer of Song: Music to Feed the Soul, facilitated by a grant from the Lilly Endowment. We expect that this will bear fruit as we explore renewed diversity and participation in our Ministry of Music.
Kathy Sherlock-Green is our Choir Director, leading several groups:
Rehearsals Thursday evening 7:30 pm.
Grades 1-12. Rehearsals after coffee hour on Sundays.
In early May, we invite choirs from other churches to join us for a festival and performance.
Convened for occasional worship services.
Tacy Colaiacomo is our Church Organist. Tacy also accompanies the Senior, Youth and Junior Choirs.
Jane Helms is our organist emeritus.
The Sanctuary has a Steinway Model B grand purchased in 2008, and a Rodgers 800 Trillium Series Organ.
